ExpressionEngine – ExpressionEngine is a Content Management System developed by EllisLab. Can you tell me the brief history of Mozilla Philippines Community?
Last year, Mozilla had noticed that there was a significant usage of Mozilla Firefox in the Philippines and they wanted to strengthen their presence here. The community was jump-started last September 2009 when Gen Kanai and Seth Bindernagel went to the Philippines.They met me and shared the idea of Mozilla’s plans to build a community here. The rest is, as they say, is history.

Another thing, the Mozilla Philippines Community is also Mozilla’s link to our country and is a good way to promote it further, hopefully get developers involved, and ultimately have a Filipino Firefox.

1. What is NullPointer.ph
NullPointer.ph (http://nullpointer.ph/) is a question and answer site for the Filipino developer community that’s free. It is a collaboratively built and maintained platform where Filipino developers can exchange knowledge, regardless of programming languages or frameworks being used, company, university, or level of expertise. It provides aspiring developers a valuable resource that can fast track their learning by having immediate access to the minds of the experienced.

2.) Why did you establish NullPointer.ph?
We want to see a stronger community of developers within the Philippines. We have so much software development talent in the country. What we want is for those talents to share their knowledge and empower each other so that our country can be more competitive in the software development scene.

NullPointer.ph also aims to become a valuable resource for local (and foreign) companies to discover local developer talents that fit their organization through the reputation system.

3.) How does it work?

DevFest events, scheduled to take place over the next few months at cities in Australia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, Israel, and Spain.

Google has released a list of 1000 most-visited sites on the web

You would be amazed by the blog post title but it is true that Google has issued a list of 1000 most-visited sites. Google has excluded some sites from the list–notably, several Google properties as well as R-rated sites. Google gave the number 1 position to Facebook, follow by, Yahoo, Live, Wikipedia, MSN, Microsoft, Blogspot, Baidu, QQ, & Mozilla.

Google AdPlanner compiled the data from “a variety of sources including anonymized, aggregated Google Toolbar data from users who have opted in to enhanced features, publisher opt-in anonymous Google Analytics data, opt-in external consumer panel data, and other third-party market research.“

Google officially announcing Google TV

At th Google I/O conference at Moscone West, San Francisco, Google has announced “Google TV” a new experience made for television that combines the TV you know and love with the freedom and power of the Internet.

“Television is becoming the true third window, with the computer and the phone, allowing you to access what you want when you want it,” Eric Kim, who heads Intel’s digital home division, said in an interview. “The dumb tube is turning into an intelligent device, a smart TV.”

Sony will launch a full line of integrated TVs and a Blu-Ray player. Logitech will roll out a companion box that will allow the integration of Google TV into an existing set up.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt takes the stage with the heads of Sony, Logitech, Dish, Best Buy and Adobe.

Schmidt is playing the role of friendly interviewer, throwing softballs like why is Flash important to Google TV and will people go out and buy new TVs because of this news.

Ergen: “We think it’s going to grow our business and we think it will open up opportunity.”

“We already know our customers watch TV and then go to another room … and they watch stuff on the computer,” he adds. “We know they want to combine those things in a seamless way.”

He’s my list of Portable Apps for Web Developers. Now you can carry your favorite web development programs along with all settings without leaving any personal data behind.

Notepad++ Portable – text editor packaged as a portable app so you can do your development on the go. It has all the same great features of Notepad++ including support for multiple languages and an extensive plugin system, but there’s nothing to install.

XAMPP – is an integrated server package of Apache, mySQL, PHP and Perl (the AMPP in XAMPP) that all run from a removable drive. Everything is pre-configured and ready to go just by unzipping or installing it.

HeidiSQL Portable – previously known as MySQL-Front, is a free and open source client for MySQL (or MySQL Frontend)
